The multitasking bar also contains a somewhat hidden control panel. To access it, double press the home button. Now, slide to the right to open up the menu. You can use the sliders here to control the brightness or sound, and you can use the buttons to quick-mute or to access the iPod app.

How To Change EQ of Your Music
The EQ, or equalizer, in the iPod lets you listen to music with more pleasure. Some people don't know this, but changing the EQ to the correct category will make listening to your music more enjoyable. So how does one accomplish this task? First, open up the Settings app. Second, locate the iPod tab on the right. There should be an EQ section under the iPod tab. Finally, tap on the EQ and change it to the category that best fits your musical genre.

How To Change Calendar Type
While a majority of the world uses the Gregorian calendar (as the iPad comes pre-set to), you can also change to view the Japanese or Buddhist calendar, too. Simply go to Settings -> General -> International -> Calendar, and choose which type of calendar you want to set your iPad to. Even if you don't understand it, this feature can also be pretty neat to check out, or a great way to sabotage an iPad (snickers).

How to prevent automatic sync once
Sometimes you don't want to sync your iPad when you connect it to your computer. In this case, hold down Shift-Control (or Command-Option, on a Mac) in iTunes while plugging your iPad in, and iTunes will skip the automatic sync just once. Alternatively, you can safely interrupt a sync by dragging the unlock slider while the iPad is mid-sync.

Tweak AutoFill
Tired of typing in the same passwords and names every time you visit one of your favorite websites? Use AutoFill.
You can choose to enable Safari's AutoFill feature in Settings > Safari > AutoFill. From there, you can tell Safari to fill forms automatically either by using your specified contact information or by remembering the names and passwords you've entered while logging in to Websites in the past.

How to turn off Location Services
Location Services can be a really nice feature to have when using turn-by-turn navigation or finding a nearby restaurant. Privacy, however, is also an important issue and sometimes it is better to switch this service off just in case. This can be done very easily:
1. Tap on your Settings icon
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Location Services
4. To turn all Location Services off, toggle the slider at the top into the off position.
You can also turn off Location Services on a per app basis.

How to Access the Hidden "apostrophe" on the Keyboard
This is a great tip for any app, like Notes, Pages or Mail, that you type into using the iPad's virtual keyboard. Rather than having to go to the second screen of the keyboard every time you want to type an apostrophe (which is a real pain) just tap and hold on the ! key and a hidden apostrophe option will appear - then just slide your finger up to access it.

Put 6 apps in the bottom tray
As many of you certainly know, there are four apps in the bottom section of the iPad's screen, called the tray. But your iPad can store more!
By clicking and holding on any icon (just as you do to rearrange apps), you'll unlock each app's position. Then just drag any two additional apps into the bottom tray. Super handy.

How to Play Podcasts at Double Speed
Are you listening to podcasts on your iPad? I do and there's so many podcasts and so little time… But recently I noticed a cool feature. The iPad as well as the iPhone supports playback at 2x the recorded speed. This is great for listening to talk-radio podcasts when driving, as you can get twice the information in the same amount of time! And the player automatically corrects pitch – it speeds up audio without everyone sounding like chipmunks on helium.
And here's how to do it:
1. Open the iPod app on your iPad
2. Open the podcast you wanna listen to
3. Tap the tiny button on the top right of the screen until it says "2x"

How to copy and paste from one application to another
There's an easy way to copy and paste text from one app to another. Just tap and hold a word, then drag with your finger to select more text, and then copy it. Go to the other application, tap and hold in the input box, and then use paste. Easy!
Want to select a whole paragraph the easy way? Just tap it 4 times to highlight the entire paragraph, then use copy.

Get A Great Background Picture
We all know it's possible to change the background picture in the Settings app (just tap on the Brightness & Wallpaper). But, Apple only provides a small selection of pictures to choose from.
If you want to install some real arty background then check out the great background pictures available for free at Poolga
On the top of the site choose "iPad" to only show pictures for the iPad. If you like a picture, click it and select iPad download. Then click and hold the image and once it's loaded full size choose "save image". You can now select this image in Settings as a wallpaper.
